My Story

Caring for older adults isn't just my work — it's woven through my whole life.

For over 15 years, I've cared for geriatric patients in hospitals, nursing homes, and assisted living facilities. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Health Science with an emphasis in Physical Therapy, which means I understand not just how to keep someone company, but how to help them move safely, stay steady on their feet, and keep their dignity intact. And long before any of that, I cared for each of my own grandparents through the end of their lives. I know what this season feels like from the inside — as a professional and as family.

"The elderly who have someone showing up for them — an advocate, a familiar face, a regular visitor — are treated better. I've seen it from the inside for fifteen years."

Staff pay closer attention. Small problems get caught early. Your loved one is seen as a person, not a room number. That's why I do this.

One of my clients recently turned 102. His daughter — a senior herself — had taken him into her home and was carrying his care alone. When I walked in, she got her life back, and he got a companion who genuinely delighted in his company. That's what I offer: not clinical treatment — presence, dignity, advocacy, safe hands, and real companionship from someone who knows exactly how this world works.

I'm not an agency. I'm not a rotating cast of strangers. When you choose me, you get me — every visit, every time.

Who This Is For

You love them. You can't be everywhere. That's where I come in.

In a Facility

Your parent is in a nursing home or assisted living

You want someone checking in — someone who knows what to look for and makes sure they're never overlooked.

Living With You

Your parent has moved in with you, and you're worn out

You love them, but you need a break — and they need company that isn't just you.

Aging at Home

Your parent lives at home

They need a steady, trustworthy presence a few days a week — someone who shows up like family.

From a Distance

You live out of town

You need eyes, ears, and a warm heart on the ground — with honest reports back to you after every visit.

Services & Rates

Simple tiers. Transparent pricing. No surprises — ever.

Private pay only. No insurance, no billing departments, no contracts trapping you. Every rate is quoted plainly during your free call, based on your family's specific needs — never a guessing game.

Companion Visits

Rate discussed on your call

Conversation, card games, reading together, a walk outside, simply being present. The kind of visit your loved one looks forward to.

Facility Visits & Advocacy

Rate discussed on your call

I visit your loved one in their nursing home, assisted living facility, or hospital. I know how these buildings run from fifteen years on the inside — and I report back to you after every visit.

Ongoing Support

Standing Advocacy Plans — Weekly & Monthly

For a loved one in a facility, assisted living, or nursing home, presence over time is what protects them. These are ongoing plans built around your family's rhythm — not a one-time visit.

Weekly Advocacy Plan

Regular, dependable presence

I visit as often as your family needs — daily if required, or multiple times a week — to get to know your loved one's baseline, build a relationship with facility staff, and keep watch. You receive a weekly update on how they're doing, plus immediate word the moment anything changes.

Monthly Advocacy Plan

Ongoing peace of mind

The same steady, familiar presence on an ongoing monthly basis — visits scheduled around your loved one's needs, with a monthly summary of how they're doing. Once I know their baseline, I'm positioned to catch small changes early, before they become bigger problems.

Visit frequency, update schedule, and pricing for standing plans are tailored to your loved one's situation and set together on your free call.

In-Home Care — Your Routine, Continued

When I care for your loved one in their own home (or yours), I don't impose a system on you — I follow the exact routine you already follow. Whatever you do for your mom or dad when you're the one caring for them, I continue in your absence, precisely the way they're used to. Same schedule, same reminders, same comforts. The goal is for your loved one to feel that nothing changed — except that you finally got to rest.

Respite Care

Rest for the family caregiver

Scheduled blocks of time so the family caregiver — often a senior themselves — can rest, run errands, or simply breathe.

Last-Minute & Same-Day

Life happens

Same-day and spur-of-the-moment requests are welcome at a premium rate. One call, and I'm there.

Serving Cabot, Little Rock, West Little Rock, and the surrounding Central Arkansas area. Visits beyond ~15 miles include a small mileage fee, always quoted upfront.

The Difference

Why families choose me over a $15/hour caregiver

You can find cheaper. Here's what you're actually paying for when you do.

The typical agency placement

  • A stranger from a staffing pool
  • A different face every week
  • Minimal screening
  • No relationship with your parent
  • No idea what "normal" looks like for them

What you get with Jean

  • 15 years caring for the elderly, plus a Bachelor's in Health Science (PT emphasis). I notice what others miss — the subtle change in appetite, the new confusion, the unsteady step that could mean a fall.
  • An insider's eye on facilities. I worked in these buildings. I know what corners get cut and what questions to ask. Your parent will never be the resident nobody checks on.
  • One person. Every time. Your parent builds a real relationship with me, and you have one phone number and one trusted person — never a scheduling department.
  • Genuine companionship. If your loved one is lucid at all, they won't just be looked after — they'll actually enjoy the time. That's worth more than any checklist.

"You're not paying for hours. You're paying for peace of mind — knowing the person walking through your parent's door is someone you'd trust with your own family."

Total Transparency

What I do — and what I don't

I believe in being clear from the very start. Here is exactly where my role begins and ends.

What I provide

  • Companionship, conversation, and emotional support
  • Light meal preparation
  • Stand-by assistance with showering (I assist; your loved one washes themselves)
  • Help with dressing and grooming
  • Safe mobility support — wheelchair, walker, and steady transfers, informed by my physical therapy training
  • Facility visits, wellness checks, and family updates
  • Errands, accompaniment to appointments, and advocacy while there
  • Respite relief for family caregivers

What I don't provide

  • Services as a licensed nurse — this is not medical or skilled nursing care
  • Injections, IV or infusion care
  • Wound care or catheter care
  • Medical advice, diagnosis, or decisions about medications or treatment
  • Services billed to insurance, Medicare, or Medicaid — this is private, self-pay companion care only

On medications — the honest, practical answer

Most families handling elder care at home aren't nurses either. An adult son or daughter routinely reminds their parent it's time for a pill, hands them the correct bottle, or sets out a daily pill organizer. In the same spirit, I provide that same everyday, non-clinical medication support a family member would — reminders, help opening containers, making sure the right dose at the right time isn't missed, and keeping you informed. I follow your loved one's existing routine exactly as their family already manages it.

What I don't do is step into clinical territory: no injections, no IV or infusion care, no wound or catheter care, and no medical decisions about what to take or when to change it. Those belong to your loved one's doctors and licensed providers. If I ever notice something concerning, my job is simple — I tell you, right away.

To be clear

I'm not offering these services as a licensed nurse, and this is not medical or skilled nursing care. My clinical background sharpens my attentiveness — it isn't the service itself. This is private, self-pay companion care, and I don't bill insurance, Medicare, or Medicaid.
